How to be a Gentleman
Online dating is the way of the future, with more and more people engaging in it. It can be difficult to come off as a gentleman in the online dating atmosphere, however. Your online dating profile is your chance to make a good first impression, though, so if you want to come off as a gentleman to potential online dates, then you should start with optimizing your profile to make you look that way.
Your profile picture is perhaps one of the first parts of your profile that users look at. While you might want to show off your body, refrain from posting selfies of yourself standing in front of the bathroom mirror. That doesn’t relay the message of a gentleman. Instead of taking a body shot of yourself that way, consider getting a friend to take a photo of you at the gym or at a sporting event.
If you’re looking for a lasting relationship, you should take the time to write more than just a couple of sentences in your bio. Let potential dates know a little bit about you, and show that you are making the effort. This makes you look like a gentleman and says more than simply “booty call.” Additionally, when you do send an email or message to another user, open with more than just a “Hi.” Remember, a gentleman goes the extra mile to stand out and puts in some effort.
Don’t include disclaimers on your profiles outlining what you don’t want. That not only doesn’t make you look like a gentleman, but it, quite frankly, makes you look conceited and cocky, which is a definite turnoff to many users. Moreover, if you have a list of qualities that you aren’t looking for listed on your profile, then it can make it look like you never really got over your exes.
Pay users compliments, but don’t try to be overly flirty. Being overly flirty can actually just come off the wrong way in an online atmosphere. For instance, while it might be perfectly acceptable to compliment a woman on her beauty online, it is another thing to start talking about her body and what you would like to do to it. While you might mean a statement in a flirty way, it doesn’t always come off that way in an online message.
Gentlemen do the work. They lead and initialize the contact with the other party. After you begin talking to a user that you like, ask for her number, and then use it. Gentlemen don’t continue to hide behind text messages, but they also don’t ask for numbers and then never call. Additionally, they don’t simply send their numbers to women and expect the women to call them. That’s lazy and shows a lack of effort and courage on your part.
Being a gentleman in the online atmosphere consists of basically the same material as being one in the physical world. Simply conduct yourself accordingly and present information in a manner that ensures you come off the right way.
